The Sustainability Imperative
Tom Raftery, Technology Evangelist, Podcast Host, & Influencer
These days Sustainability is fast moving from being a nice-to-have for organisations, to increasingly becoming a business imperative. Why? What’s happening in the space today? What are the trends for the coming years? And what can organisations do to address this need? These are just some of the topics being addressed by Tom Raftery, producer and host of the twice weekly Digital Supply Chain podcast in this keynote address

Key Levers to Identify New Sources of Supply Chain Efficiency on a Recurrent Basis
Victor Sales, Manufacturing Director Iberia, Danone
With high inflation and pressure on margins rising, the quest for supply chain efficiency is now more important than ever. However, isn’t this the case every year? The context may change, but increasing efficiency will always remain crucial. Identifying new ideas year after year can be an exhausting task unless you have a multi-year well-structured plan. Such a plan will have to deal with a number of challenges and contradictions: tackling short-term urgencies without compromising long-term value for consumers, ensuring efficiency is high up on the company’s agenda, leveraging collaboration with customers and suppliers, etc. This talk will go into the levers that are, according to my experience, key to elaborate a forward-looking structured approach that fosters the generation of new sources of efficiency on a recurrent basis.

5 Factors that will Transform your Reverse Supply Chain
Gaurav Saran, Founder and CEO, ReverseLogix
Companies know product return costs are high. They even know why they are high. And yet, costs aren’t being addressed effectively. Most companies are trying to manage returns with the wrong tools, such as a warehouse management system, an ERP or a logistics management system. For forward-thinking companies committed to improving the returns process, technology that is purpose-built for returns is revolutionising reverse logistics.
A returns management system (RMS) offers B2C, B2B and hybrid environments a total, end-to-end management of returns. It’s the final piece of the supply chain puzzle. In this presentation, we’ll guide you through the top considerations when selecting an RMS and where it can have the most immediate and significant impact on your operations.

Main Strategies for Addressing Supply Chain Disruptions in Latin América
Yeri Villamizar, Leader BOSC, Cargill
In these times of crisis caused by natural disasters, global health pandemics, inflation, economic downturn, price fluctuations, cyberattacks, supplier threats, and increasing customer expectations, as well as political uncertainty due to US-China tensions and the war between Russia and Ukraine, supply chain management strategies have been highly challenged worldwide. Preparing planning assumptions is becoming increasingly important for supply chain management decisions. Most corporate strategies have been highly challenged in order to overcome these disruptions, with a focus on reducing future risks. Therefore, the industry has started working on their strategic and tactical planning models to be more agile and flexible in order to reduce gaps between supply and demand. In this presentation, I will expose the main strategies used by multinational companies in Latin America to overcome these challenges.

Increasing Supply Chain Resilience with Additive Manufacture
Len Pannett, Advisor, DiManEx and CSCMP UK President
With no signs that pressures from disruptions and inflation will abate soon, supply chains must find innovative ways to deal with them. The capabilities of 3D printing have matured significantly over the last few years and new operating models mean that supply chains can today leverage the advantages of digital inventories in a scalable manner, opening opportunities for small and large companies alike. Looking at the benefits and constraints of this approach, this talk will describe how to start on the digital inventory journey.

Why multi-party orchestration is key to achieving end to end supply chain visibility and control:
- Mitigating risk and impact, monitoring and controlling cost and maintaining operational excellence under changing
conditions have become a multi-tier endeavour
- Actionable visibility into inventory, orders, logistics and transport has to span beyond enterprise facilities
- The challenge of orchestrating across multiple parties, systems and processes to drive a high-performance supply chain
requires a fast and strategic orchestration across networks

Which are the levers to boost Sustainability from Supply ChainGE?
Guillermo Oliva, Global Chief Strategy & Transformation & Supply Chain Officer, Original Buff SA
Sustainability with a broad understanding can be defined with the triple economic, social, and environmental axis. The current situation of the world is certainly more urgent, should we talk about sustainability or rather about regeneration? From Supply ChainGE, we should think about how we can contribute and how to act and influence towards more sustainable value chains. We have global challenges ahead in our companies, challenges in regulatory requirements, in consumer demands, but our own responsibility and purpose could represent the most significant challenge. The question is, how do we position ourselves to meet this challenge?

The Impact of Big Data Analytics Capabilities (BDAC) on Supply Chain Risk Management: Empirical Evidence from European Companies
Run Niu, Associate Professor of Operations Management, School of Business & Technology, Webster University
While BDAC is built on the infrastructural, structural, and integration choices related to Big Data Analytics, supply chain risks are disruptions associated with the material flow, information flow, and financial flow of supply chain operations. We propose a conceptual framework that links BDAC and SCRM contingent upon environmental uncertainty and organisational culture. A large-scale survey was utilised to collect data from European companies to test the conceptual model using factor analysis and structural equation modelling approach.

Designing Supply Chains to encourage Circular Economy and Doughnut Economics
Ram Yeleti, CEO, Red-Shift
The goal of Circular Economy is to keep materials, products and services in circulation for as long as possible. The Doughnut Economics is a broader economic model that proposes conservation of the Earth's natural resources while attempting to eradicate global poverty. These two revolutionary twenty-first century economic models can help conserve the Earth's resources and lift millions out of poverty, but they require reinvention of the traditional Supply Chains. This talk stands on the shoulders of the giants who made immense contributions in both fields and calls Supply Chain leaders to action.

Resilience in Worldwide and Complex Supply Chains: Experiences and Solutions
Marco Baffoni, VP Global Head of Parts Operations, IVECO Group
Supply chain bottlenecks — arising from multiple causes like semiconductor shortages, supplier capacity constraints, geopolitical and environmental disruptions — have negatively affected a variety of sectors. The commercial vehicles industry, including the aftersales spare parts business, was impacted by these challenges which call for a timely reaction to guarantee customer service. In this situation, ensuring spare parts availability to customers all over the world calls for optimally balancing the focus on efficiency with the development of capabilities needed to absorb shocks and react faster when disruptions occur.

Supply Chain Digitalization and Disasters: Improving Responsiveness and Resilience
Mary Long, Supply Chain Evangelist, Haslam College of Business, University of Tennessee
In light of the continued supply chain disruptions experienced globally, the need for digital, always-on supply chains that are adaptive and responsive to ever changing triggers are needed. These same elements are essential to effective disaster relief and response. This session will explore recent research from the UTK Global Supply Chain Institute. We looked at what makes supply chain digitalization more successful: data strategy, internal vs external data sharing, differences in approach across high versus low performers. We will end the session by linking digitalization and efforts to improve disaster relief efforts and preparedness. We will discuss how the relationship between an organisation’s digitalization journey is similar to the improvements communities seek in building more resilient disaster relief efforts that involve public private partnerships.
